A seasoned communicator, Dorothy uses her pen and her voice to build bridges between people of different backgrounds. As a host of more than 600 events, panel discussions and interviews, content producer (digital and TV), speaker, consultant and mentor, she has a proven track record of delivering groundbreaking, impactful, educational and sustainable projects with the small to large-scale organisations she collaborates with.
Dorothy is a sought-after moderator, facilitator and catalyst on matters related to social issues, women empowerment and gender equality, youth empowerment and mentorship, media, entrepreneurship, culture, civic engagement and DEI. Known for her thoroughness and leadership, she supports NPOs, private, public and parapublic organizations in their creation, development and implementation processes by offering sound advice, an intelligent, sharp and sensitive outlook, great availability as well as an openness to maneuver in complex terrain.
She’s a fierce advocate of authentic, strong and diverse representation above and below the line in the audiovisual industry and in leadership. She has been reinforcing that vision of inclusivity and belonging since she started her career as a journalist in 2009. For instance, Dorothy collaborated with CBC/Radio-Canada on DEI strategies and projects. She led several initiatives within Radio-Canada’s French services, including co-creating the incubator Synergies Radio-Canada.
Living in Kenya, after living a few years in South Africa, she’s extending her expertise internationally. She has collaborated with the Trade Commissioner Service of Global Affairs Canada in South Africa and Canadian Heritage as a consultant and panel discussion moderator. As part of Canada’s Creative Export Strategy, this initiative supported a Canadian delegation at FAME Week Africa in 2023, in order to promote opportunities for audiovisual co-productions between the two countries.
She also moderated panel discussions in Abidjan, Casablanca and Brazzaville. Furthermore, socially engaged for nearly 20 years, she chaired the Conseil des Montréalaises (Montreal Women Council) from 2017 to 2020. This advisory committee presents recommendations to the City of Montreal on equality and the status of women.
As a mentor, Dorothy always remains driven by her unfailing desire to open doors for women.
