As a community activist for the past 15 years, Dorothy Alexandre uses pen and voice to build bridges between people of different backgrounds. A communications entrepreneur, she organizes events and moderates panel discussions on women, youth, entrepreneurship, citizen engagement, media and diversity.

In addition to producing socially relevant online content, she is currently working on several projects focused on women and youth. From 2009 – 2016, Alexandre was a journalist and researcher for Groupe TVA, a private Quebec network.

Acclaimed for her in-depth and insightful interviews, she spent four years as host and co-producer of the radio show In Music and Words, a project that provided a showcase for the talent and dedication of young people in Montreal’s Haitian community.

Always ready to pay it forward, Alexandre is involved in a number of charitable and social initiatives. She is the president of the Montreal’s Women Council (Conseil des Montréalaises). It acts as an advisory body to the municipal administration on all issues concerning gender equality and the status of women. The council hopes to encourage women’s participation in the city’s public life. It provides collective leverage to find answers to the needs and concerns of women in Montréal. Alexandre also advocates for a better representativity of diversity both in media and governance as a panelist, speaker and consultant.

She also speaks in schools on motivation, communication and career choices to improve their resilience, perseverance and ability to excel.  Furthermore, she also encourages the mentoring of young women

Dorothy Alexandre has a B.Sc. in Exercise Science from Concordia University and her dedication to community has earned her a number of honours, including being inducted into the “National Wall of Role Models,” during the Black Canadian Awards in Toronto (2014) and being nominated as one of the 100 Black Canadian Women to follow in 2017. On a more personal note, she and her spouse are the happy parents of a little girl.
